Thank you for the response and kind words!
As a writer, no matter where you are in levels of experience, it often feels like we’re inundated courses, books, and advice! I try to be honest about my experiences (I’ve written about my struggles dealing with anxiety, loneliness, and when I lose a client) and also share my knowledge. In fact, the book I wrote last year — a lot of the content was pulled from my free blog.
I don’t like being pitched all the time, either! I think in all businesses, but definitely freelancing, I find that honesty and being genuine really truly works. I’ve had people straight up tell me “I got a lower quote, but I want to work with you.” And I make it my freaking MISSION to be super easy to work with, responsive, meet deadlines, and be genuine.
I also think there is a big piece there in the fact that I really genuinely LIKE PEOPLE. I like talking to people and hearing their stories. Especially since I work from home by myself! I love building that relationship with clients and getting to know people. Stuff like that shines through!
Be yourself, market yourself, and you can totally be a paid writer and entrepreneur.
