Politicians and the Government Don’t Care About You

Distracted, fractured, divisive groups fight against each other, not their oppressors.

It is hard to deny, but difficult to believe.

The truth is that we, as Americans, are taught to believe that our country is the best because we have freedom and a democracy and a very large military.

While the actual reality is very different.

As the Pew Research Center says, “65% [of Americans] say they always or often feel exhausted when thinking about politics.”

Starting point: What are you angry about?

I get into anxiety and anger spirals doom-scrolling and just thinking about how shitty it is that we live in this massive “free” country built on the backs of Indigenous people and immigrants yet we fight and argue and scream about allowing more immigrants in and basic freedoms like affordable healthcare, affordable education, and affordable housing.

Even just affordable food would be great! Inflation is insane right now!

And why are affordable healthcare, education, and housing even hot-button issues? Why wouldn’t our leaders want educated, healthy, housed, and happy constituents?

That’s really what is important to think about — what would they lose by providing Americans with these things?
