I’m sure you’ve heard of scrapbooking.

You may be thinking of a random photo album with that plastic covering. You’d pop in a photo that you picked up from Walgreens after waiting 2 days for the roll of film to be developed, then add a handwritten note saying the who, where, and when. You might pop a sticker on there and call it a day.

Or maybe you think of a nice journal or book where you paste in a physical photo and add cute stickers and use a label maker to print out the event and stick it in.

And who doesn’t love a label maker?!

And now we have junk journaling.

Junk journals are also referred to as art journals, smash books, art books, collage journals, and more. Whatever you call it, it is awesome.

Every single junk journal is wholly unique and interesting.

Instead of necessarily saving photos for posterity, junk journaling is for aesthetics and combines washi tape, photos, paper, stickers, and anything else you can think of to create beautiful chaos on paper.

Some people do themes, like all black and white or purple and gold or galaxy to make a cohesive layout and color story.
