Exploring My Feminine Side

I smell so freaking good.

I don’t know that I’d call my young and adult self a full-on tomboy, but I have always been a jeans-and-t-shirt, no-daily-makeup gal.

I never actively ignored or disliked feminine things. I happily wore dresses to nice events and was super excited about picking out my prom dress and getting my hair and nails done.

But on a day-to-day basis for my entire life, I have been in jeans (or jean shorts), a t-shirt, and had a baggy hoodie in my car for when I inevitably get cold.

And there were things I just didn't get.

I wasn’t ever into makeup. From when I was maybe 14 to 30, I owned a mascara and a couple of lipsticks for when I dressed up, but it never even occurred to me to wear them (or more) every day. I’d simply rather sleep longer than have time for makeup in the morning.

I never lit candles in my house (unless something actually smelled bad and I wanted to cover it up, haha). I just didn’t see the point.

I used plain shampoo and Dove soap and didn’t see the point of buying fancy scrubs or soaps outside of the nice-smelling gifts I would sometimes get (and use and enjoy!).

I understood that people enjoyed those things, and I never begrudge them that.
